Amy Callahan, L.C.S.W.

Amy Callahan, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Ms. Callahan received her master's degree from NYU School of Social Work in 2005. Ms. Callahan works with children, adolescents and adults. Her areas of expertise include the treatment of anxiety and depression, childhood issues and behaviors, developmental disorders, autism, grief and loss, addiction, family and couple work. Ms. Callahan works with individuals, couples families and groups.

Ms. Callahan has a unique background; she was a special education teacher for 11 years working with elementary, middle and high school age children, enabling a wide range of expertise in the areas of learning differences, autism, and school issues. Ms. Callahan works with children as young as 12 months; she is a trained play therapist. Ms Callahan went back post graduate school in 2007 and received a certification in the treatment of addictions. She has a unique ability to work with adolescents and adults having difficulty with substance use and abuse as well their family members.

Ms. Callahan is the founder and president of a foundation that assists 9-11 children through their journey of grief since 2002. Greif is a process and adults and children grieve differently. Each needs outlets to express their grief and understand their "new normal"; a life without the person they have loved and lost. Ms. Callahan has unique experiences and insights that assist those to travel the path of grief and find peace.
