Amy Callahan, L.C.S.W.Amy Callahan, M.S.W., L.S.W. is a licensed social worker and member of the National Alliance of Social Workers. She graduated with a Master's Degree in 2005 from New York University's School of Social Work, and completed her first internship at Trinitas Hospital in the outpatient unit working with adult clients individually as well as in group settings. Ms. Callahan completed her second internship with Unitas Treatment Center in Manhattan where she worked with individuals, couples and families. Ms. Callahan received a bachelor's degree in Arts and Sciences with a major in Social Work from the Catholic University of America, and worked for nine years as a Special Education Teacher in the private and public sectors, receiving a Master's level teaching certification from Montclair State University. Ms. Callahan has been employed for the last year and one half at the Mountainside Hospital inpatient psychiatric unit, where she treats patient with multifaceted issues, including dually diagnosed patients with mental disorders and addictions. Because of her years of experience in the realm of education Amy specializes in treating the learning-disabled population as well as families of those with disabilities. Ms. Callahan is the president and founder of The Better Days Foundation, an organization which was set up for the long-term support of children who lost parents or loved ones on 9-11. The Better Days Foundation hosts fun, healing activities throughout the year as well as the weeklong sleep away summer camp, Camp Better Days. |
